Breaks in wire insulation are inevitable in low voltage landscape lighting since wiring is required to be buried less than six inches below the ground. With standard copper wire, breaks in insulation cause declining performance and eventually failure. Since insulation breaks are very difficult to troubleshoot, they often lead to replacing an entire run of wire and the tedious testing of every fixture on the run. Non-corrosive wire is up to ten times more resistant to damage than standard copper wire, while maintaining high electrical conductivity. Corrosive damage from insulation breaks is dramatically lessened, even over a long period of time.
